Eux Autres - Ring Out

Eux Autres (should be pronounced "ooz-oh-tra", which is French for "Them Others" according to their web site) are a lovely little band from  Montreal, Canada (hence the frenchness).

And this catchy tune made my day, so maybe it will make yours too.

Wreckless Eric - Whole Wide World (Live)

It's been a while since I've posted anything under the classic live section here, but with no further delay I'd like to correct that now.

Stiff Records was founded right at the brink of the punk rock revolution in London. To be honest, the things that came out on it were more pub-rock than punk, but it was thrown on that wagon nonetheless.

Stiff were one of the first DIY record labels in the world and they paved the way for a lot of the musical revolutions that grew from that ideology.
Amongst the artist that started out there were Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe & Ian Dury and Eric Goulden, which is also known as 'Wreckless Eric'.

Which brings us to today's featured video, Wreckless Eric's best known tune 'Whole Wide World'. You might remember this song from the film 'Stranger Than Fiction', where Will Ferrell sang it while trying to get into some pale chick's pants.

Here it is done live on TV with a small cameo of Ian Dury himself on drums.
(Sorry for the lousy sound, but it's worth it)

Toy - Motoring

You might feel it in your bones, but there is a bit of a revival of that nice warm guitar sound that we had during the 90's, especially in the UK.

This brand new outfit from London deferentially paid close attention to bands like Ride, Inspiral Carpets and Catherine's Wheel with their heavy reverb and chorus effects still ringing in their ears.

This is their second single which was just released and paves the way to a very promising debut album.

New Videos from Benelux

Two new(ish) videos from two cool bands from Belgium & The Netherlands.

First we have 'De Staat' from Nijmegen (Netherlands). They were allegedly discovered by Chris Goss, which is mostly known for his work with The Queens of the Stone Age but also for his bands Masters of Reality & Goon Moon.
This video is taken from their second LP 'Machinery'.

Next up we have the young and upcoming Belgium band 'Steak Number Eight'. Leaning towards a more heavier sound and drawing some resemblance to the likes of Mastodon and Isis.
From their debut album 'All In Chaos' here's their new video for 'Dickhead'.

The Rock Show

It's the time for another episode of The Rock Show.
This time we have here a very dark and gloomy two hours set with no words to interfere.
